Mayor Black called the fifth regular meeting of the 131st Council to order at 7:00 p.m.

  • Councillor Seccaspina made an announcement that there is a new free counselling/mental health clinic open at 145 Hooper St. 
  • Councillor Seccaspina made an announcement regarding a lengthy spread about Carleton Place in the recent issue of Better Homes & Gardens Quilt Sampler magazine, highlighting The Pickle Dish quilting store, the OVR trail, the Good Food Company restaurant and the Real Wool Shop.
  • Councillor Seccaspina made an announcement that the St. James Anglican Church free breakfast has been a great success, offering hot breakfast every Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Only 20% of attendees have been parishioners, so there is lots of public participation. Lots of donations means that the breakfast has been at no cost to the church.  
  • Councillor Toby Randell wanted to express his appreciation for all the staff and Council members he noticed taking part in Bell Let's Talk Day on January 29, 2020. He noted that this is an important day that raises awareness for mental health issues, and that lots of participation served to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health. 
  • Councillor Fritz made an announcement about the upcoming interview process for a new detachment commander for the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police. Candidates will be interviewed on February 13, 2020.
